Barkly Blog: Intimacy with the Father

When I was a younger pooch, my favorite thing in the world was to walk with my hooman, Rob. He’s my adopted dad. When I was even younger, just a puppy, I loved spending hours a day working on my obedience with him. Sit. Stay. Heal. Come. Hours and hours spent with my dad. Training. It was awesome. Now that I am an older dog and longs walks are no longer a possibility (silly knees) and I’ve had the commands mastered for a long time – I like nothing better than just lying next to my hooman. It doesn’t matter what he’s doing. Reading a book. I love laying right next to him. Watching a game. I love laying right next to him. Eating dinner at the table. I love laying right next to him. I told him this the other day. He told me that he felt the same. “There is nothing better for me than to enjoy your company,” he said. In fact, he said, “the point of having a dog is to delight dogs company. ”Imagine that, the father loves the company of his adopted kid. Sounds like the point of our shared Christian faith.
