(Genesis 19) Anybody who says the Bible is boring clearly hasn’t read much of it! This whole story is wild from start to finish! If you haven’t read it ever (or lately) do that right now (Genesis 19:1-29). Wild – start to finish, right?! Of all the anti-heroes in this story, the part that really stood out to me was Lot’s wife disobeying clear instructions and looking back on the destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah. The Bible tells us that for this she was turned into a pillar of salt. Such an extreme example and yet a good reminder for us too. Most often we should just do what we’re supposed to do and not worry so much about what other people do. I often hear people talking about other’s “getting what they had coming” or just plain being nosey about other people’s struggles. This story gives us a powerful reminder – vengeance belongs to the Lord. It should be no concern of ours if or how the Lord decides to punish. Our focus should be on loving and serving. For everything else it’s best to MYOB (mind your own business).
